Tracy-Ann Oberman

Tracy-Ann Oberman has had one of the most distinguished careers in the media, taking in work on stage, screen, and as a stand up comedian, as well as extensive credits as writer and broadcaster.

Her many theatre credits include four years with the Royal Shakespeare Company including the award-winning production of Tamburlaine, and also at the Royal National Theatre in a production of David Mamet's Edmond opposite Kenneth Branagh. In the West End, Tracy’s most recent appearance was as the German airhostess Gretchen in the multi award-winning Boeing Boeing.

Tracy-Ann has acted extensively on television and is most widely recognised for her high-profile, National Television Award nominated portrayal of Chrissie Watts in the BBC's flagship show Eastenders, and as Yvonne Hartman, head of the mysterious Torchwood institute, in the British TV phenomenon Dr Who.

Her numerous TV appearances include sketch shows, dramas, and sit-coms (Bob Martin, Big Train, Marion and Geoff, Lenny Henry in Pieces, M1 High, Sorted, Summerhill, The Last Detective, The Bill, Casualty and any more). In 2011 Tracy also played Val in Channel 4’s hit sitcom Friday Night Dinner, as well as appearing in the season finale of Waterloo Road.

As well as screen, Tracy-Ann possesses one of the most impressive CVs in radio, including a long-term association with BBC Radio productions. She has appeared in over 600 drama's, comedy series, sketch and satirical news shows.

She has also written plays and short stories for radio, and in late 2011 was commissioned to write a new afternoon play for BBC Radio 4, and a new comedy panel show for BBC Radio 2, both of which will air in 2012.
