Cofilmic
The Cofilmic Comedy Film Festival was launched in 2011 to help breed a new era of comedy talent from the North West and beyond.
Cofilmic was founded by Janet Harrison who, having made a short comedy film, identified the need for a comprehensive comedy-focused event that would showcase brand new work, and provide practical advice as supplied by leading industry experts.
Leading industry figures that make up the Cofilmic judging panel include BAFTA winning producer Charlie Hanson (Extras, Garth Marenghi's Darkplace, Life's Too Short), Henry Normal (co-founder, Baby Cow Productions), Martin Riley (managing director, Lion Eyes TV), Steve North (commissioning editor, DAVE) and Leslee Udwin (producer, East is East, West is West).
Prizes at the very first Cofilmic Comedy Film Festival included one-to-one sessions with Charlie Hanson, Leslee Udwin, Kristian Smith (commissioning editor, BBC Comedy), Dave Spikey (co-writer, Phoenix Nights) and Walli Ullah (The Division Films), whilst those judged the best films will be showcased around the UK in Cofilmic's 'Best of the Fest' tour.
