A Band of Buriers Announce House Show Tour

London based folk band to play house show dates around the UK from 22nd March

Prior to the release of brand new single 'Slides By' on 16th April 2012, A Band of Buriers are delighted to announce a house show tour of the UK. Following on from their sell-out residency at London's Ronnie Scott’s, the band will be previewing previously unheard music from their forthcoming new album at dates around the country and beyond, beginning on 22nd March.

The A Band of Buriers house show has become one of the most exciting and unique fixtures on the London folk circuit, offering audiences an exclusive and intimate opportunity to connect with the band’s live performances. This will be the first time A Band of Buriers take their house tours on the road, beginning in late March as they stop off at 'Dr Pepper's Abelorium' in Bristol and the 'Nos Da Chapel' in Cardiff. They then make a special return to the site of their albums recording, Grannyflat Studios in Oxford, before heading to Germany for two live dates, including an appearance at Skribble Gebibble collective's 10th Anniversary show.

A Band of Buriers formed in 2011 and merge folk, classical arrangements and vocal harmonies with Beatnik-esque spoken word and poetry. They consist of James P Honey, a poet and singer/songwriter, Jamie Romain, a classical cellist, and an accompanying female backing choir.

In April 2011 A Band of Buriers released their self-titled debut album with independent label Decorative Stamp which was voted album of the year by Beats Breaks & Big Smiles and label Aniseed Records, topping the likes of Radiohead and Tom Waits, and being described as being 'some of the most beautiful music ever heard' (Beats Breaks & Big Smiles).

'Beautiful dirges that make you feel things… They build and break and leave you quite stunned, confused almost, the internal box that normally fits things neatly into categories is emptied to make room for strings and harmonies and loathing and hope. - The Fly

'Like a modern-day Leonard Cohen, A Band of Buriers offer a pick 'n' mix bag of tricks: epic, cello-accompanied spoken word; intense, ukulele-laced folk; a troupe of backing singers ever dressed in white; and a Ronnie Scott's residency.’ - Volume Magazine

'A Band Of Buriers concoct a curious, bewitching broth which moans with mournful strings and minor-chord guitars. What’s so outstanding about their music is James P Honey’s vocal delivery: steeped in ‘alternative-rap’ culture and with a firm belief in blending genres.’ - Rough Trade
