We have an exciting opportunity for a senior TV PR professional to join our Television publicity team on a maternity leave contract as an Acting Deputy Director. We’re looking for a well-connected senior TV PR, with strong line management experience and leadership skills, who loves all things small screen and would relish the opportunity to be a part of our senior management team at our growing agency.
The opportunity: Acting Deputy Director, TV
This position is on a fixed-term basis of approximately 12 months to cover a period of maternity leave in our Television publicity division at Multitude Media, based in either London or Manchester.
The successful candidate will become an integral part of Multitude Media’s senior management team, managing senior level client relationships, driving new business and overseeing a broad range of television PR campaigns for some of the best television shows, production companies and arts organisations out there. Our clients include BAFTA, Sky News, Hungry Bear Media, Merman, Mindhouse, Rogan Productions, Twenty Twenty, Firecrest Films, Offspring Films and Wall to Wall. We are proud to work with broadcasters and streamers like BBC One, 5 and Comedy Central, Netflix, Prime Video, UKTV, ITV and Channel 4 to deliver standout consumer and corporate campaigns for our clients.
The role will report to the Director, TV, and the successful candidate will have line management and leadership responsibilities, alongside campaign and new business goals.
Candidates must have strong experience in television PR specifically. They will demonstrate a deep understanding of the industry, and bring with them a broad network of journalist and industry contacts. Alongside this, our ideal candidate will bring excellent client and people management skills, alongside shrewd judgement, high levels of creativity, organisation, and perseverance to deliver excellent campaigns for our clients.
This role is a maternity cover position with a 12-month contract and hybrid/flexible working as standard, with a minimum of three days per week in either our London or Manchester offices. The full job description and benefits package are outlined below.
Job description:
- We are looking for an experienced TV PR, confident at devising creative, strategic and impactful campaigns - who leads their project teams to achieve the very best results, in line with the aims of the brief, and on deadline.
- Confident and calm at managing complex projects and a varied, fast-paced workload across multiple clients and, at times, under an intense media spotlight.
- Skilled at client management, the Deputy Director prioritises proactively nurturing the relationships with their senior clients, acting as the most senior day-to-day contact on each account, remaining visibly engaged with each project on their slate and providing strategic counsel, creative ideas and reputation management.
- A primary area of responsibility is hitting the company’s new business targets and a key part of the role is identifying opportunities for growth, securing and retaining new business. Ideally, they are experienced in tackling new business briefs and pulling together pitch decks.
- Responsible for the contracting of clients, and agreeing fees and clear scopes of work for each project, with input from senior management.
- Brings to the role a vast existing slate of strong relationships with key media across broadcast, print, online and digital platforms, and works hard to nurture these relationships, whilst also proactively identifying new contacts.
- Responsible for ensuring the smooth running of each of their campaigns, encouraging a high standard of client management, media engagement, and a smooth administrative process.
- Experienced at reputation and crisis management, the successful candidate will confidently manage reactive media or stakeholder issues, preparing a strategic response and confidently advising the client and stakeholders throughout the process, whilst ensuring that due process is followed.
- Monitors the media landscape and anticipates issues that could impact on any given client. Devises and implements strategies to mitigate risk, where appropriate.
- Confident in briefing talent and spokespeople on complex subject matters or contentious issues ahead of media interviews or public appearances.
- Excellent all-round communication skills, the successful candidate leads by example.
- Experienced at media management on red carpets and photo calls, and able to confidently lead a team to effectively organise and staff large scale media events.
- Experienced at managing complex unit and TX publicity briefs, including top class client, talent and stakeholder management throughout.
- Skilled line managers, this role is responsible for the effective line management of team members, for making recruitment decisions, and managing the performance of their project teams.
- Leads on all company social media communication, internal updates and bulletins, ensuring that all key clients are visible across social channels, and takes a leading role in social media strategy.
